balloon - excerpt...

"Please come through," she said, standing to one side. Her bare feet squeaked in the slick pooling at her feet from her cunt. Dumb, he followed the bulge in his trousers like it was a diviner's rod, out through the door into a large passageway. On each side, arches spanned all the way to the far end. Each arch led to a large chamber and each chamber was filled by a large pinkish balloon, some forty feet in diameter.

"Take off your clothes as we go," she said. "Mickey will pick them up."

He turned to see Mickey Mouse following them, "Mickey Mouse?"

"Yes, this is the punishment for the atheists... we thought it would ease the burden if they could see something they might have believed in... if not, well, it's just a laugh at their expense."

He took of his shirt and let it drop to the floor. Sure enough, Mickey picked it up and draped it over his arm. Mephistopheles did the same. Her dress tinkled to the floor and landed in her slug trail. Naked she was divine. Her entire body was without blemish; her breasts were without nipples and her long legs ended at the small white slit, sluicing out her juices.

davies speaks...

My story 'Balloon' came about after I had a daydream about having sex inside my own skin, as if it was some kind of loosened sack to share space with another. For the most part, when these things become stories I normally trim off some of the stuff that doesn't work in the context of a logistic narrative. However, when I added elements such as religion, terrorism, Disney and vaginal discharge, I found I had a series of visual motifs that seemed to hang together rather playfully.

The result is a very short story about nihilism and the danger one may face (and how dangerous one could be) if one believes in nothing; maybe more so than someone who has complete fundamental faith in a higher power.
