psycho-erotic writer...
I've been writing for twenty years. My first short story (well, a prose poem) was published back in 1985 Dreams & Nightmares, New York. My first novel RED HEDZ was published in 1990 by Creation Press, London. Since then I have been ploughing my own writing furrow. My latest novels BUKKAKEWORLD and PLANET OF THE OWLS will be published in July 2008 by Silverthought Press, New York. I love collaborating and have created short stories with some of the most exciting writers in the small press today, DF Lewis, MF Korn, Alex Severin, Paul Pinn, Charlee Jacob, David Kopaska-Merkel, Mark McLaughlin, John Lawson, Greg Wharton, Vincent Sakowski, Simon Logan, Dawn Andrews, Destiny West, Brutal Dreamer, Queenie Tirone, Amy Grech, Christina Sng and Vanda Ashante. I detest the mainstream. I cannot understand how such Franchise Writing can satisfy the creative needs of the writer, or the reader. I am originally from the north of England. I have a French wife and daughter. We currently live in the quaint English town of Oxford. I speak French, some German and some Japanese.
psycho-figurative artist...
As
a psycho-figurative artist I've had a series of one-man exhibitions and have illustrated extensively for the small press. My first one-man exhibition of life-size oil-on-hardboard paintings was back in 1987. I had three more one-man exhibitions after that but since the disastrous Amsterdam exhibition scheduled to spend the month at Galerie Erotique there by the train station (I had the money through the British Council, I had the publicity, I had the gallery on my side then there was a major fuck up at customs which meant I missed the exhibition window) I have not painted any new psycho-figurative artworks since. At the end of a bleak 1995, I finaly took an axe to the majority of these big paintings - very cathartic. I have concentrated my creative energy on my writing using the caveat that if 'a picture paints a thousand words' I get the equivalent of 40 new paintings per book as my sucking blanket.
interviewer/editor...
I put together some avant garde interviews for Terror Tales e-zine. I got to interview the likes of Jack Ketchum, Tom Piccirilli, Ed Lee et al in my un-patented surreal style - the new Chimericana Books THE LIFE AND DEATH OF HERTZAN CHIMERA contains about 20 of these. I became an editor because I got bored with the themed collections I was reading. It was like these editors never appealed to me as a reader, neither with their choice of writer or their choice or treatment of subject matter. I decided to start bringing out some publications that more reflected MY OWN personal tastes in both theme, treatment and editorial style. I created the CHIMERAWORLD series of trade paperbacks (the fifth issue is due at the end of 2008). I am a subversive in my tastes and this is reflected in the sort of material I consider for my editorial projects. As a matter of principle (unlike some editors out there) I refuse to include my own work in these editorial exercises.
paperback publisher...
After dealing with small press publishers like Eraserhead Press and Cyber Pulp Press I decided to start my own production company, Chimericana Books. My aim is to support writing that deals with extreme literary subjects. The first run of books has already been published and include Chimeraworld #1 (editor), Chimeraworld #2 (editor), Chimeraworld #3 (editor), Chimeraworld #4 (editor), The Best of Him+Chim+Her (collaborations), The Life and Death of Hertzan Chimera (the official biography of an invented persona), Jane's Game (novel), Twilight's Last Gleaming (novel), The Hoo-Hoo Are Coming (novel) and Horror Quarterly (the best of issues one to three of the rock-horror ezine). All Chimericana Books are available through Amazon.
3D games artist...
For the last eight years, I have been employed in the 3D computer games industry as a senior artist/animator. The three successfully published games I have worked on are Medievil and Medievil2 (for Sony Cambridge) and Ghost Master (for Sick Puppies). There's an online portfolio you can surf through if you're interested - it's mostly Ghost Master character work. After a year off I have returned to the games industry where I work at Rebellion here in Oxford.
