silverthought press has balls of steel... Silverthought Press of New York to publish my new novels "Bukkakeworld" and "Planet Of The Owls" in second quarter of 2008. Both of these 'genreclectic' titles are for adults only and they're crammed to the hilt with insane surrealistic horror in a manner that only Mike Philbin aka Hertzan Chimera can deliver. Here's what publisher Paul Hughes is saying on the front page of the website, "Silverthought is positively turgid to announce a two-book deal with 'genreclectic' writer Mike Philbin. Fact: Mike is the first writer whose work has made me nauseous. Fact: Most people will not enjoy these books. Fact: This is some of the best experimental transgressive fiction I’ve ever read. Bend over." Look out for these gut-wrenching titles in the major distributors and bookstores all across USA and Europe Q2 2008. Before then you can read exclusive first chapters by clicking on the title of this post and scrolling down to the Upcoming Releases section.
philbin on youtube... Here are two to-cameras about my two new Silverthought Press novels "Planet of the Owls" and "Bukkakeworld", due date summer 2008 in paperback. In both cases, the videos were shot nearby on separate mornings and edited together in the afternoons. Enjoy.
news flash, you corporate suckboy, you rancid shit gobbler, you turd... Exclusive second chapter of my summer 2008 Silverthought Press novel "Bukkakeworld" has just surfaced over at MySpace. If you're into horror, you're gonna slurp every last dollop of this crap down your worthless little pisshole. Obviously, you've got nothing better to read.
the capturing kind, new at Silverthought online
... this is my first submission/acceptance to the (paying) online sci-fi arm of Silverthought press, a story called THE CAPTURING KIND (yeah, it's vaguely inspired by the William Gibson story 'The Belonging Kind' but only in the 'twist'y end).
philbin in horrotica.com... After two successful years of publication, Horrotica On-line Magazine enters its third year by launching the first issue of Volume Three with a special, exclusive and extensive Mike Philbin feature. Cover art and Featured artist, as well as an in-depth interview about his writing and forthcoming Silverthought novels "Bukkakeworld" and "Planet of the Owls".
bibliography... Here's a detailed bibliography of all the books I've written or collaborated on. It's not a short story list (my records aren't that detailed) but it is a list of all my published titles in paperback. It's what a reader wants to find on a writer's site, no?
new freelance section... I'm thinking very seriously about shifting out of 3D games art/animation production and moving into 3D teaching (which I do a lot of in my current job anyway). My intention is to supplement this career move with paid freelance writing work. I've added a freelance section that lists book/DVD reviews, author interviews and other freelance writing I've done in recent times. I'd also like to get back into my psycho-realist painting that's become quite popular again with style and art magazines - there's a new art interview below and another one coming out in Horrotica magazine early next year.
writers in oxford... Writers In Oxford is the society for published authors, here in Oxford, with links to the Oxford Literary Festival and world-famous author Philip Pullman among their members. They arrange special gatherings around Oxford to discuss relevant writerly issues, sometimes inviting guest speakers from all over the literary/journalistic world. You need to have had a minimum of three books published (not self-published) to get in. And I'm their newest member. They're a varied assortment of writers from all over the writing spectrum. Historians, critics, columnists, interviewers, reviewers, satyrists, travel writers, erotic writers, children's fiction writers and novelists of all shape and flavour.
2007 gallery extension... There are now seven categories with the newly added Psycho-Realist Portraits section. Plus there's the Eve's Apples photomontages, the third eye butterfly illustrations, the slaughtered paintings, the psycho-erotic photomontages, the lost paintings and the raism illustrations. Click the gallery link in the menu on the left or the 1.5 faces of Chimera at the top of this page.
new interview section... So many people are asking for interviews, have already done interviews or have interviews with me coming up in future print and online zines, I thought it might be a nice idea to arrange them all in one easy-access area. The latest additions include a Pacione/Philbin double interview BANNED from Skullring.org, an in-depth Associated Content interview and a dual-interview/discussion with AP Fuchs over at OutsiderWriters.org.
philbin on myspace... For those who care about communication with Philbin, there's a special MySpace page dedicated to just that. Click the link at the top of this item "philbin on myspace". Anyone looking for the MySpace Messiah, don't worry it was just an illusion.
